I’m very aware that its unhealthy to have any regrets in life….
However, packing in cycling when I did, is the single biggest mistake that I’ve ever made.
When I was about 15 years old, I had ambitions of one day riding in the Tour de France, when I was 17 years old I cycled for Manchester and, I rode in races such as the Junior Tour of Ireland, I also finished 2nd to my best friend at the time and, my arch rival Will Wright in the Manchester Divisional Championships.
I went on to ride for the British National Squad.…
So at the time I had the desire and, the pedigree to go all the way so to speak but, I never took advantage of it.
What a fool…
I’m never going to have those opportunities again, not in the same way anyway at least.
When we do finally come out of lockdown, whenever that might be? After I’ve been for a proper haircut and, had my Norman Lamont eyebrows reshaped.
I fully intend to return to competitive cycling or, what I should say is competitive trikeing.
Ian my brother-in-law and I, are in talks about what our goals might look like for 2021. So far we have the 137km Poppy Ride on Sunday, 16th May.
